Psychology can be divided broadly into two branches: natural science and social science. In the natural science branch of Queen's psychology program, you will learn about basic processes of cognition and behavioural neuroscience, including the effects of brain damage or drug-induced changes on behaviour, how various neurochemicals affect normal and abnormal behaviour, mechanisms of memory, motor control and how we solve problems. The social science branch of the program focuses on child development, personality differences, how people act in groups or organizations, health-related behaviours and various aspects of normal and abnormal behaviour. Although the social and natural science branches differ somewhat in content, students in both are trained in statistics and research design.

Art conservation is an exciting and challenging multidisciplinary field involving the examination, interpretation, analysis and conservation of cultural, historic and artistic objects. Professional conservators rely on their knowledge of both the humanities and sciences in order to understand the creation and production of material culture in past and present contexts and ensure its preservation for future generations. Queen's University in Kingston offers the only Canadian Master's degree program in art conservation. Combining theory and practice, advanced programs aim to educate and train conservators and conservation scientists to a professional level. Students in the Treatment stream may specialize in the treatment of artifacts, paintings or paper. A two-year research program is offered to science and engineering graduates, leading to a career in conservation science.

The Certificate in Data Analytics gives students a solid grounding in inductive modelling and natural experiments, as these become a new epistemology and so methodology for understanding complex systems that are not accessible to controlled experiments, the workhorse of post-Enlightenment science. Courses contain a substantial design component, as students apply knowledge to real-world systems, and evaluate their effectiveness.

Society relies daily on fuel, pharmaceuticals, advanced composites, semiconductors, magnetic and optical storage devices, agricultural products, light-weight materials, coatings, synthetic fibers and personal care products. Chemical Engineers develop new advanced materials and design the processes that convert raw materials into value-added products. Chemical Engineering is a broadly based engineering discipline, which combines the study of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology, with engineering science, design, and economics. Students learn how to design safe, efficient, environmentally-friendly, sustainable economical processes and products.. They also acquire direct experience with pilot-scale chemical process equipment and simulators. Queen's Chemical Engineering offers options in Chemical Process Engineering and in Biochemical Engineering. Depending upon their interest, students can choose elective courses in the following areas: biochemical; biomedical; environmental; process systems engineering; energy; materials.

Statistics is the science of designing informative experiments, of displaying and analyzing data and of drawing valid conclusions from data. Knowledge of statistical methods is useful to scientists, engineers and workers in all areas of government, research, industry and medicine, but can also be studied as a subject in its own right. There is currently great demand for those who understand and can apply statistics effectively. Students are guided by experts in many branches of mathematics as they explore some of the great masterpieces of human thought. Over the years our programs have prepared students with a variety of goals, perspectives and tastes: for graduate study in mathematics and other disciplines, for teaching, for professional education and for entry into jobs where technical expertise and problem-solving skills are valued.

Jewish civilization has a recorded history of 4,000 years. With texts spanning from the Hebrew Scriptures to post-modern writing, Jewish literature can be found in many languages. While located in many civilizations, Jews have been most intimately involved with those of the West and the Middle East. Studying Jews and Judaism in these contexts provides students with insight into the complexities of culture and identity. A minor in Jewish studies well complements many majors in the humanities and enhances concentrations in the sciences.
