The Consecutive Education program prepares university graduates to become educators and qualifies graduates for Ontario College of Teachers certification. The program features courses with Aboriginal-specific content, as well as practice teaching placements in First Nations or provincial schools. It leads to OCT certification in the Primary and-Junior divisions (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6) or Intermediate and Senior divisions (Grades 7-12) in two teaching subjects from: Dramatic Arts, English, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Studies, French as a Second Language, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music-Instrumental or Vocal, Science-Biology, Science-Chemistry, Science-Physics and Visual Arts. The program can be completed either 1) on-campus, in four successive terms, starting in May and ending in August of the following year, or 2) in communities of Manitoulin-North Shore region, one summer term at Queen’s in Kingston, two fall and winter terms and one summer term in the community. The community-based program only offers the Primary-Junior divisions.
