The Life Sciences program provides students, through a multi-disciplinary approach, the opportunity to study the basic medical sciences. Interdisciplinary courses are offered in the third and fourth year following fundamental courses in biology, mathematics, physics and chemistry in the first year of specialized basic science discipline courses in the second and third year. During the final years of the honours degree, students may concentrate their studies in one of the basic sciences or specialize in an interdisciplinary theme such as neuroscience, cardiovascular science, reproductive biology or molecular biology. The Queen's Life Sciences program is unmatched in preparation for graduate studies in biomedical sciences as well as for opportunities in the marketplace, especially in the pharmaceutical industry.

Psychology can be divided broadly into two branches: natural science and social science. In the natural science branch of Queen's psychology program, you will learn about basic processes of cognition and behavioural neuroscience, including the effects of brain damage or drug-induced changes on behaviour, how various neurochemicals affect normal and abnormal behaviour, mechanisms of memory, motor control and how we solve problems. The social science branch of the program focuses on child development, personality differences, how people act in groups or organizations, health-related behaviours and various aspects of normal and abnormal behaviour. Although the social and natural science branches differ somewhat in content, students in both are trained in statistics and research design.

The modern mining industry is concerned with the stewardship and recovery of the earth’s mineral resources in an economic and sustainable manner, while also adhering to ethical and social values. The Bachelor of Mining Engineering Technology curriculum has been designed to provide technical, managerial, and sustainability skills, as well as develop an understanding of the business of mining in terms of economics, finance, and people. Recognizing that technical competence is key to the business of mining, these competencies will be emphasized by providing the necessary fundamental background in science and mathematics, and reinforced through a two-week hands-on field school placement, occurring in the summer of each year (one in Kingston, the other in Timmins), which will also serve to enhance the development of applied skills and theoretical concepts.
