Mechanical engineers are needed wherever there is modern machinery. They drive every stage of design, manufacturing, construction and research. In this program, students combine the study of basic engineering with practical courses in machine design, robotics and manufacturing methods. Hands-on design is integral to this program so students may find themselves involved in designing artificial joints, or even a spacecraft, depending on their specialization. If students choose the Materials option, they will study the exciting developments in materials and nanotechology. Areas of specialization include aerospace, mechatronics, biomechanical, manufacturing, materials and thermofluids.
