Concurrent Education prepares secondary school graduates to become educators and qualifies graduates for Ontario College of Teachers certification. Students take courses towards an Arts and Science degree and an Education degree. The program is five years, with an additional summer term in Year 5 (ending in August). By the end of five years, students end up with two degrees, one in Arts or Science and one in Education. The program leads to OCT certification in the Primary and Junior divisions (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6), or Intermediate and Senior divisions (Grades 7-12). One teaching subject must be in Visual Art, and one other teaching subject from: Dramatic Arts, English, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Studies, French as a Second Language, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music-Instrumental or Vocal, Science-Biology, Science-Chemistry, Science-Physics and Visual Arts.
