Brandon University staff includes a Student Success Officer as well as a Learning Skills Specialist who focus on First Nations, Métis and Inuit students' engagement and academic success. The Indigenous Peoples' Centre offers the students a home away from home. Here students will find couches to relax on, a kids area for educational play, an Elders room for smudging, and a kitchen where soup is made every day at lunch, but most importantly it offers students a family and friendships that will last a lifetime. The IPC helps students with the social, cultural and academic transition into university life. Peer-to-peer mentoring, engagement and assistance with transition to university are provided through the Indigenous Peoples' Centre and the Aboriginal Student Council.
