UNIVERSITY OF ST. MICHAEL'S COLLEGE

University of St. Michael's College

Founded in 1852 by the Congregation of St. Basil and federated with the University of Toronto, the University of St. Michael’s College is a Catholic institution of higher learning committed to the rigorous search for truth and meaning. Rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, USMC boasts a vibrant undergraduate division, a graduate Faculty of Theology and one of the busiest libraries at the U of T, all located in the heart of one of the world’s most diverse cities.

St. Michael’s offers undergraduate programs in Celtic Studies, Mediaeval Studies, Christianity and Culture and Book and Media Studies. Its four SMC One programs take an interdisciplinary approach to questions of faith (the Gilson Seminar in Faith and Ideas), technology (the McLuhan Seminar in Creativity and Technology), history (the Boyle Seminar in Scripts and Stories), and reconciliation (the Christianity, Truth and Reconciliation Seminar), and its First Year Foundations seminars engage new students in discussion-based university-level studies focused on a particular subject or theme.
